Role and Responsibilities

  • Provides interpretation of and facilitates adherence to corporate policies and procedures; ensures continued compliance and guides management in handling sensitive HR issues.
  • Provides first response/line of defense on employee relations issues. Keeps CEO/ VP/HR informed of issues that have the potential to become complex and present a risk to employees and/or the company.
  • Oversees the administration of and compliance to compensation, benefits, EEO and other human resources policies and procedures in accordance within corporate guidelines; oversees the request, approval and processing of personnel actions for the region.
  • Provides training and guidance to management and employees as needed; responds to routine questions regarding compensation and benefits programs, works with division and/or corporate functional specialist to resolve more complex issues.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems and procedures that are in compliance with established administrative policies, regulations and acceptable HR and payroll practices.
  • Partners with HR Coordinator to manage the recruiting function for the business unit; Helps oversee procedures and activities to recruit and/or develop sources of recruitment, interview and screen applicants, coordinate the selection and orientation of new employees; ensures compliance to all company and regulatory requirements and reporting that governs the employment function.
  • Reviews and maintains appropriate employment records and systems and administers effective and efficient workforce planning strategies.
  • Confers with business unit management teams to assist with identifying and developing programs to resolve employee skills training and development needs.
  • Works with HR senior management to develop, locate, review, recommend and/or deliver training programs to knowledge and skills required to optimize individual and business unit performance.
  • Ensures Human Resources activities, employee records, records retention, information distribution and regulatory reporting comply with Federal, State, Company and accrediting agencies.
  • Coordinates administrative and logistical details associated with the day-to-day operations of the HR Department.
  • Coaches, develops and motivates subordinate staff to achieve goal, objectives and professional growth.
  • Develop and implement effective recruiting and hiring procedures and practices that will result in attracting and retaining the best qualified and best matched candidates.

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's college degree in related field and five (5) years' Human Resources experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Be the communications hub and liaison between internal teams, clients and agency partners.

  • Responsible for all cycle count activities (unit and location level, frequency, documentation, productivity, accuracy, etc.) of assigned area per guidelines established by internal and external auditors.
  • Responsible for all quality audits (unit, frequency, documentation, percentage audited, accuracy, etc.).
  • Responsible for all inbound vendor performance audits.
  • Responsible for effectively and efficiently communicating inventory accuracy, productivity, issues on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Responsible for all inventory movement in assigned area that is not in the normal inbound and outbound processes. 
  • Responsible for properly executing and monitoring slotting strategy/plan in assigned area.   
  • Closely monitor all inventory related movements with the facility for strict adherence to established procedures and timely/accurate/thorough reporting when compliance is compromised. 
  • Responsible for optimal work flow and safety of assigned area and associates. 
  • Evaluate and drive employee performance through coaching, leadership (lead by example), proper planning, effective communication and providing clear and attainable expectations all while using the company guidelines.
  • Through continuous improvement methodology, improve inventory/quality processes that will improve associate morale, service, cost per unit, quality and/or accuracy.
  • Assist with other projects as required.
  • Understand and properly manage all necessary productivity variables in order to improve cost per unit while maintaining high levels of service, quality and morale.
  • Develop associates (exempt and non-exempt) through timely feedback, effective communication, proper expectations and training, mentoring/coaching so they can achieve their professional metrics/goals and take on roles of increased responsibility over time.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports (addressing metrics and behaviors).
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with internal business partners (customer service, planning, quality, business units, etc.).
  •  Direct reports include hourly coordinators and associates for inventory and quality in assigned area.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current innovations and best practices in the operations area and investigate integration of these ideas to improve distribution function.
  • Actively own safety (incidents, near misses, accidents, awareness, etc.) through full participation in all safety related matters (meetings, supporting initiatives, investigations, etc.).
  • Perform monthly safety inspections and submit to Safety department.
  • Partner with operations to validate written SOP’s; oversee IC and operational processes.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a related field, preferred.
  • 3-5 years of managerial level experience with a preference of 1-2 years in the apparel distribution functional area and/or an automated distribution environment.
  • Experience leading teams of 20+ associates (non-exempt).
  • Experience working a high volume, fast-paced Supply Chain environment.

Preferred Skills

  • General understanding and knowledge of the latest distribution center technologies (warehouse management systems, automated unit sortation, automated storage and retrieval system (OSR), automated shipping and receiving sortation, pick-to-light, radio-frequency scanners, warehouse control systems (WCS), conveyors, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Proven ability in making sound business decisions (focus on the decision-making process).
